Chelae

The strong and powerful chelae are used to catch prey and crush them. Pandinus imperator seldomly stings its prey because the chelae are strong enough. Prey items which take up a fight might be stung. The chelae are also used for protection, a good pinch of one of the two chelae will probably scare most animals and or humans off. A Pandinus imperator will take a defence posture with the chelae in front of them, wide open and ready for striking.

When the scorpion will be kept provoked, the telson might be used.
