Telson

Bearing a painful, for humans non lethal sting, the telson is always ready for use. Although hardly used the telson is always something to keep in mind. Younger instar Pandinus imperator have white to yellow telsons. This color gets darker when the younger scorpions mature. Once mature the telson is dark red in color. The telson has a lot of sensory hairs which detect air movement. This way the scorpion knows where the prey is.
